Akruti's story

I’m Akruti, an immigrant from India and a mom of two raising my children in the U.S. When my son was born, I searched for toys and books that reflected our South Asian heritage and came up empty. I wanted him to feel proud of where he came from, but I realized if I couldn’t find these resources, countless other families couldn’t either. That gap inspired me to start Kulture Khazana, a children’s toy, craft, and puzzle brand that brings cultural confidence to kids through play.

What began as a deeply personal mission has grown into a movement embraced by over 25,000 families and counting. Our products make culture fun, vibrant, and accessible. They spark joy for kids while inviting people of all backgrounds to connect through play. This fall, we are launching in 282 Target stores nationwide for Diwali, which is both a dream come true and a pivotal moment for our business.

This Kiva loan will help us purchase the inventory needed to meet Target’s demand and make the most of this incredible opportunity. Beyond the cultural impact, this launch is a major step toward profitability and scale. It gives us national visibility, building retail relationships, and creating a pathway for future growth. I’m committed to making Kulture Khazana not just a business that sustains my family, but one that celebrates heritage, builds community, and thrives in the marketplace.
