A loan helped a member to buy bissap, sugar, monkey bread, and condiments.

Groupe Hakilimaya's story

Created in June 2017, this group is composed of members living in the same town who have good cohesion. Their main work is in small-scale commerce.

Mariama is active in selling ice cream, bissap drink, and ice. Standing at the right in the photo with a hand raise, she is the group's representative. Mariama is married, 33 years old, and the mother of four.

With this loan, she is going to buy 2 bags of bissap [dried hibiscus flowers], a bag of sugar, 2 sacks of monkey bread [the fruit of the baobab tree], and some condiments. With her earnings, she plans to help out her husband to improve the family’s living conditions and to boost her savings.
